  • Replaced my car battery and car still won't start?!?

I have a 1988 bmw. The night before last, my husband left the headlights on all night and in the morning the battery was dead. The battery wouldn't charge with jumper cables so we took it in to an auto parts store. They tested it and said it was bad, so we replaced the battery. However the car still won't start. It tries to turn over but just won't start. Any suggestions?

  • Can I use my cell phone for wireless internet on a laptop?

So, I don't have internet access hooked up on my desktop at home. Currently when I need to something online I use my evo smartphone, and I can do everything but print.

However, I want to purchase a new laptop for my son for graduation. I have heard I can use my smartphone and share its internet access with a computer instead of paying for internet in my house. Can anyone help me out or tell me more about this?

  • My son broke another child's glasses. I said I would pay but the estimate is crazy, plus..?

My son accidentally broke another child's glasses while they were at school. He admitted it was his fault. When the principal contacted me, I said I would pay for replacement glasses. However, the other child's parents turned in an estimate that seems outrageously expensive, plus it included an eye exam!

I wrote the principal a response saying first, I had no intention of paying for an eye exam when the glasses were broken while in a backpack, not on the child's face, and second, before I agreed to spend hundreds of dollars (which I don't have, but that is beside the point) I would like some proof that the glasses that were broken originally cost that much. Especially because the other child told my son that as soon as I paid for the glasses the other child could have a new bike. I told the principal if I accidentally total someone's Ford Escort, I do not think I should have to replace it with a Lexus. Now several months have passed and we remain at an impasse, with me still demanding a receipt showing what the old glasses cost, and the other parents demanding hundred of dollars without showing me anything. Am I being unreasonable??

  • Anyone else have a plantation on Facebook Farmville and can't use the edges of the farm?

I have a farm on Facebook's FarmVille that I have upgraded to a plantation. However, now that it is so large, the game will not allow me to place things on the edges or corners of my farm because they are essentially off of the screen. Anyone else have the same problem or any solutions? Thank you

  • Can anyone tell me what California penal code 273a b entails?

I recently googled an old friend online, and was extremely surprised to find the only story about her was a recent arrest summary and mug shot. She was arrested for DUI and possession of marijuana but also 273 a b willful cruelty to a child. I am wondering if she was charged with that simply because a child was in her vehicle while she was DUI or if it entails actual physical harm. I admit I am just being nosy and curious, but still would appreciate any help on this matter.

  • Are my kids (ages 12 and almost 8) old enough to stay home alone together?

For the last year my twelve year old son has stayed home by himself after school until I get home from work, but my seven year old daughter has gone to after school daycare. Now I am wondering (she turns eight next month) if she is getting old enough to stay home with her brother (and I am not talking about overnight, so don't go there, only until about 6 p.m. when I get home from work). They do get along very well, and he calls me every day after school from the house phone so I know he has gotten home alright. What do you think would be an appropriate age to leave her too?

  • Haircut suggestions for a twelve year old boy?

My son is about to be twelve and he needs a haircut. Right now his hair is pretty long. The front part is down to his nose and the back is down to his collar, where it is now curling up. In general, however, his hair is straight. Anyone have any suggestions for a good/stylish haircut for him when I take him to have it cut? Pictures would be helpful. Also, he doesn't really know how he wants it cut, but doesn't want it long anymore. He is NOT emo, and doesn't have one really specific or extreme style, more skater than anything I guess....

    thanks for any suggestions

  • What is the usual punishment for a first offense DUI in California?

Does anyone know the usual punishment for a first offense DUI in California? He was well over the legal limit, but not speeding or any other traffic offense, didn't hit anyone or anything, didn't refuse to do a breathalyser and admitted he had been drinking, and also he has never been arrested before. Any idea what might happen? Thank you.
