  • how does sp3 hybridization in oxygen take place? (in water)?

the electronic configuration of oxygen is 1s2 2s2 2p4 which would mean that the 2p orbitals have been filled (1 is doubly filled with electrons while the other 2 are singly filled). then how is one electron from the 2s orbital promoted to the 2p orbital to form 4 sp3 hybrid orbitals?

    thanks so much!

  • I would like to ask, what makes the pan flute have different pitches?

could someone please help me understand the Physics behind it?

I know it's something about the air columns and the vibrations of the air particles so when the sound waves travel further they have longer wavelengths, therefore lower frequencies (because it's the same medium, the speed does not change), so the pitch is lowered?

btw, I am not asking about how to make pan flutes or what length to use, just how it works!

    thanks :D

  • Chemical equation help?!! Thx :D?

I did an experiment on whether an acidic or alkaline medium would increase the rate of rusting of iron nails and used Coke as my acidic solvent. I noticed that the rate of rusting was highest in Coke and now I need to explain why in my report :/

Could someone please help me come up with a chemical equation for me that shows rusting of iron taking place in carbonic acid? The equations should be balanced :)

Oh yes, and if possible could you guys please help me also to come up with an equation that involves rusting of iron in an alkaline medium?

    Thanks a lot :)

    Really appreaciate it :P

  • A little science help here ?! Thanks :)?

    Hey guys!

I am doing a science investigative project on whether an acidic or alkaline medium would cause the rate of oxidation of iron nails to be the fastest. It seems that the solvent Coke causes the most damage to the iron nail in the form of pits (small, black holes.)

Could you tell me what type of acid coke contains and how that acid might promote the process of pitting in iron nails?

Thanks people :) I really appreciate your answers :P

  • Please help me regarding this qn on the Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare! Thanks :))?

In Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice, Act 3 Scene 4, where Portia and Nerissa disguise themselves as men to save Antonio, what are the literary devices used that generate humour among the audience? This is apart from the fact that in Shakespearean theatres, young males used to the play the roles of woman, so male disguising themselves as males again makes it funny. But what else? :/

    Help me please thanks :)
