  • 17 month old not sleeping all of a sudden?

My daughter turned 17 months on Dec. 20th. She sleeps in her own room on a mattress on the floor. Up until about a week ago, she was sleeping great, only waking up once or twice and would go right back to sleep. Now she is waking up about every two hours. I can get her back to sleep no problem, but when I lay her back in her bed, she might stay asleep for a minute and then she sits up and crawls over to me, and I have to start over again. She went to the doctor last week, and everything was fine. She's been teething for awhile, so I don't think that's the cause. Has anyone else gone through this? We try to do the same things each night, and she's always in bed around the same time. When she wakes up, she's not hot, cold, wet, etc, although she won't go back to sleep without nursing. Last night I tried to just rock her because she had woken up literally 5 minutes after nursing to sleep, and she wanted to nurse again. She threw a huge fit and ended up staying awake for 3 hours. Does anyone have any advice, or is this something I just have to wait out? Please do not suggest that I let her cry it out, as that is not an option for me. Thanks in advance!

  • Problem with diapers?

My daughter is in a size 4 and wears Pampers Cruisers. She's been in the size 4 for a little while now and we haven't had any problems up until now. For about the past month or so, we've had several occasions of her waking up in the morning with the front of her pajamas soaked. It happened yesterday and again today. About the time this started, she began sleeping better at night, but I don't usually change her at night, so I don't think this is causing our problem. I'm going today to get some different diapers to put on her at night (they work fine during the day). Has anyone else had this problem? I'm not sure if I should get a different brand or just get the next bigger size of the Pampers for nighttime. Oh, and she's almost 16 months, if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance!

  • Nervous about returning to work?

I have been staying home with my 14 month old daughter since she was born. However, in a couple of weeks I will probably be starting back to work part time - about two or three nights a week. During the times I am away she will be home with Daddy. Here is my concern: she still nurses quite a bit (both during the day and at night) and I am worried about how my working will affect her. I'm worried that she will want or need to nurse while I'm away, and that when she realizes I'm not there, she'll get upset to the point where Daddy can't calm her down. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to run back home after a few hours to let her nurse. I plan on leaving some expressed milk for her in her sippy cup, but she isn't that crazy about it and still doesn't drink from it all that much. Is there anything else I can do to help prevent her getting upset? I plan on letting her self-wean and don't want to wean her just because I'll be working a few nights a week. And this is a need-to-work situation, not a want-to-work situation. I'm just afraid that this might cause her to cut out nursing all together. Any suggestions or advice?

  • Getting started with homeschooling?

My daughter is not even a year old yet, but I am seriously considering homeschooling her, for many different reasons. I'm trying to do as much research as possible before she gets to school-age. Does anyone know of any good books or other sources that I could read to learn more? Any comments or advice will be appreciated. Thanks!
