Footy in South-East Asia?
Does anyone think that Australian Football would have a chance of taking root in Soccer mad South-east Asia if the AFL were to seriously promote the game there?
Coming from Singapore myself and having been based in Melbourne since early 2005, I'd have to admit that I only really caught on with the game in mid 2006 and ever since then, I've been hooked. Can't wait for season 2007 to start. Go West Coast.

One problem with playing Australian football in many countries is the availability of ovals big enough for the game. Footy is played on a cricket oval so, in many ways, it restricts itself to places where it is possible to play cricket.
There are, however, healthy competitions in Australian football in many countries and there is an international tournament for them every three or four years in Melbourne. The only country not allowed to play is Australia.

Because of the size of South East Asian body (*I am Asian), I don't think they can afford to play that sort of highly physical games. They can play but I don't think they can reach that kind of game level.
