Is 50 degrees C too hot for a computer to run at normally.?

And if not what is too hot for NORMAL operation?

I'm going to assume you're referring to CPU temperature here instead of standard room temperature - unless you live in an oven. ;)

Generally, CPU's run within the 2-3 Ghz range. Well - if you didn't know, your microwave works at a frequency of about 5Ghz. So... if you can imagine, just think of it like putting your CPU in your microwave on "low" setting and just leaving it there. That's pretty much what you're doing with your CPU's when you turn your computer on.

With that in mind - while optimal running temperature depends on the CPU, in general 50 degrees is pretty common running temperature. 40 on low times and 50 when you're running should be just fine. You'll want to get worried when your average running temperature gets over 65.

    Hope this helps!

That is a bit temperate, mine runs at 40C.

It is hard to say exactly what temp is too hot, because it all depends when your cpu's millions of connections decide to melt, and the temperature sensor may or may not be near the absolute hottest spot, but 50 is a bit warm.

I would see about pulling off the cover, and with a can of compressed air blow out all of the dust out of the vents and the motherboard and everywhere dust can get into, don't forget fins and fans and just everything... Do be careful where you blow the main jet of air, but don't be afraid of getting the dirt out.

You can buy a can of air made just for this purpose at most any electronics store for around 10-15 dollars.

An air compressor would be great, but close your eyes if you plan on blowing with your mouth <- If you use either of these methods, leave the computer sitting for 20-30 minutes before putting it back together to make sure all humidity evaporates.

Also, I would use your mouth as a last resort, not the least of which it's not powerful enough a stream et.al.

Beyond that, you might pick up an extra 12v case fan and hook it up some kind of way so that it pushes or pulls more air through the case, maybe get that while getting the can of air.

While you got the cover off and after you clean it out, plug it in and watch your eyes then turn it on, and carefully inspect all of your fans (especially cpu but don't forget the graphics card and maybe you have hard-drive coolers as well, idk but inspect all of them including the power supply fan). Basically, just make sure they all work, and replace any that don't.

Then, put it all back together.

And, on first boot enter your BIOS screen and check out all the settings and make sure it's not overclocked.

The case should be cleaned out thoroughly about every 4-6 months for a daily or power user, every 30-90 days if you smoke.

That should cool it off some, 40C would be nice.

If room temperature is 50 degrees Centigrade thn it is definetily not good. But you know wht if your CPU is working thn it is normal to work on such temperature normally SMPS too can work on such temperature. Like to tell you tht some motherboards are Thermostats in which, if temperature is going over thn the limit thn it's smps automatically switched off.

122 F degrees would not be ideal, heat is a computers worst enemy.
