Have people who think sport bikes are uncomfortable..?

... actually ridden one 500 miles in a day.. with a buddy on a cruiser? And then traded the next day? And I seriously mean 500 miles.... where the sportbike shines... not 25-100 miles to the pub and back.

most of them nver ride that far. the old my legs don't bend like that is my favorite.

rode my 93 cbr1000f to bike week twice 8.5 hours staight. 54 mpg and i was sore for the first 100 miles but took some advil and i was fine a little cold but ok. with a tankbag on you can just lay on the tank so there is no stress on your upper body

rode the RC51 to the dragon second ride of the year 12 hour round trip in the summer my **** was hot bought a bag of ice at a fill up and cooled the seat and the boys down.

Its all what your used to some people are just candy arses

my Honda sport bike cramps my leg circulation at about 100 M, but if i hold my legs out straight it goes away. after about 300m the Kansas wind buffeting kind of kicks in and i notice the neck needs to be moved more to keep it limber, but I usually fuel at 280 and do a walk around. By 400 the leathers have set to me and I'm ok except for the occasional leg straightening. Before 500 I need food and a walk-around the bike. The next day I am a bit stiff and tired. Oh by the way I am almost 60. The Concours had more legroom, but did not avoid road hazards as quickly. The old Triumph needed repairs every 85 miles. I have been thinking maybe something more fitting my age with more leg room like a super duke. I'll look at ST1300s when i hit 70.

I have ridden sportbikes and experienced back pains and leg cramps on a 60 mile ride. I like riding sitting up being able stretch my legs on my forward pegs and enjoying the ride. I have also owned a Sportster with forward controls and foot pegs. I changed the stock seat for a touring seat and have very comfortably ridden much longer distances. It is all in what kind of riding you like to do. If you enjoy taking your time and enjoying the scenery it is better to sit back and relax. If you just want to get from place to place in the minimum time possible, a sportbike can do this. The important thing is enjoy the ride. One important point, sportbikes are not made for the comfort of a passenger, those tiny seats on the rear fenders and knees up to their chests, can't be, especially on a long trip. There is nothing more enjoyable than doing the ride together with your wife or girlfriend.

500 miles on a sportbike (SB) is less time in the saddle because you are traveling two to three times faster. I.e., 500 miles on a ZX-14 at 200 mph = 2.5 hours. 500 miles on an H-D cruiser at 75mph = 6.7 hours.

Even if the H-D was 10x more comfortable, I cannot sit anywhere much longer than 2.5 hours without getting a sore asss.

I've ridden 1000 miles in a day. It helps to have some weight on your arms, such as with a SB position. I find it very comfortable. A tank bag, as someone else mentioned. also helps. On a SB, you can put your feet on the rear pegs too.

Ridden both that far, Granted, I have "upgrades" on the sport - Genmar risers, with a Corbin saddle and gel pad - 500 is no problem . Cruiser killed my rear-end in 500 miles - cause that was where ALL my weight was riding....

I rode from Texas to Ohio only stopping for food and fuel.It was a 27 hour ride.My asss was still numb 3 days later.Of course it wasn't on a sportbike because they are ugly and I wouldn't own one.Next time I'll take a few breaks and a couple of days.500 miles is an easy trip.

It depends on the cruiser you are speaking of. Lets say that you are on a sport bike and your buddy has a new Harley Davidson Road King. I expect you will be begging him to trade in 100 miles;)

Am I reading this correctly? You think a 500 mile ride is where a sport bike shines? I'll take some of what you're smokin' dude.

No fear! if your riding a sportsbike as it was designed to be ridden it wont be a problem.

I ride mine from sun up till sundown at velocity with no aches and pains because i'm active on the bike, jumping all over it keeping the rear following the front! This is on the twisty roads, on the motorways the rear gets a bit numb after a bit so i turn off and go another way!
