Deaf Ferret rough housing?

I got a ferret a few weeks ago. Just one. He's deaf. It's still a kit, plays around a lot etc. He loves to play! Sometimes he bites really hard while hes playing. It's easy when hes biting us to tell him no, or stop etc.

But my concern is lately, my dog has been playing with my ferret, and the ferret gets really rough with him. and lately hes actually been playing really rough with him and biting him on/beneth his eye lid to the point where my dogs starts to wimper in pain. Now the ferret doesnt know he's hurting him... how do I make it known to him to stop hurting him so much or stop being so rough with the dog?

Scruffing doesnt seem to work, if anything he just gets more excited. And I really dont know how efficent saying no is...since he's deaf. Also, giving him time out doesnt work, again he just gets pissed or whatever you may want to call it.

Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

Try dragging him a short ways across the floor while scruffed just to emphasize you're in charge and that you don't like him being mean to the dog. Where is his "time out" spot? Try somewhere small like a carrier, with no blankets or toys inside, and ignoring him. Any longer than a few minutes will make him forget why he's there, though.

Sounds like your dog is letting him get away with being dominant, though, so it might take longer for the lesson to sink in. Try lots of treats and affection whenever he plays nicely.

I have a deaf ferret too, and I can't help but talk to him the same as the others. I'm pretty sure he at least notices facial expressions, so go ahead and look angry when he bites!

I have 5 ferrets and they are all rough on my cat but no matter. The ferret are always ready to learn. I flick my ferrets on the tip of the nose which gets there attention and they hate it like nothing else. Flicking if done right will make him sneeze. just remember ferrets will learn if you are patient.

The first ferret i got was Powder 2months old

would bite so hard that he drown blood so i went to the pet shelter to see if they had and older ferrets to adopt and i found a 2 year old

named Old man that has very nice

and after introducing them i saw that as time went on that Old man would bite back and pin powder down letting him know how the Alpha was or at least i thought so butt after i got my 3rd ferret Little Anne 1month old i would see old man try to put her to sleep. Cool thing is Powder nolonger bites hard at all. not even a little.

any way im not saying you should get another ferret but its always a though (-=
