Why does my browser keep closing down?

My IE browser keeps on closing down, without warning, and without saying it has any errors. The weird thing is that it only closes down when I have Yahoo Mail open in a window. And, it can happen if I click something, or not, and when it does it closes all IE windows, which is hellishly annoying!

If it effects anything, in my internet options I have "Disable Script Debugging" in IE and in 'Other' clicked, I heard this WILL solve my problem... yeh right.

Thanks for any help!

Update:

I have MacAfee. I will do a virus scan and see what that comes up with.

Yes, I do run Windows Live Messenger 24/7, but it never used to do it.

Have you tried using a different brower? I'm using Mozilla Firefox - it's compatible with MS-Windows and has shown no sign of either slowing down or closing down.

Mozilla Firefox browser is free to download and free to use. They may ask you to pay a 'donation' but you are not obliged unless you feel like it. If it says free, then treat it as free.

Another thing you might like to do is a defrag of your PC. What this does is to clean up your main disk and sort things out a bit and leave more space. Depending on how much downloading you are doing, it's always a good idea to do a defrag at least once a week.

In addition to defrag, try also your on-board disc clean up program. If you've got MS-Windows this should come as part of the package.

Do NOT download expensive software from the Internet - most of which is probably just crap. If you want a program which will do some real good in speeding up your PC - go to this website and click through to their electronics and the PC section : -

    http://www.qvc.uk.com/

You can get QVC on Freeview or watch it online at the above site. They don't just sell jewellery but lots more.

The speedup and cleanup disc from QVC costs about £25.50 you may also have to pay a delivery fee.

Good luck but only choose the QVC disc at the last resort. From what you say, I reckon you just need a bit of a clean up which you should be able to do using your own on-board 'cleanup' and 'defrag'.

    Good luck...

If it closes and you automatically reboot then Windows will display a message about a SERIOUS ERROR and ask to send an error report to Microsoft.

If the application IE closes down but the system is still running then have a look in Event Viewer for more information. Double click Administrative Tools in Control Panel and select Event Viewer. Check the Application section for any Errors. Double click the Error and see what it says. As you scroll down in the Error window you will see a link to Microsoft for a further explanation about the error and a possible solution.

I had a problem similar to this, but my IE closed right after I opened it. If you're running IE7 it's probably a bug (there are a lot of those in IE7), and you could always downgrade to IE6 or try re-installing it.

Also, a virus scan wouldn't hurt. If all else fails, just try a different browser. I use Firefox, but if you like the way IE works you could try Avant browser.

Switch to Firefox its the only browser I use, I've been using it for 2 or 3 years never had a virus or anything go wrong at all.

I also use AVG Anti-Virus (Free Edition) and McAfee Firewall along with Ad-Aware and AVG Anti-Spyware.
