Few things about me: I am a second year (male) vet student in London, England (and loving it, although its very hard). I have a particular interest in exotic animals - have a pet snake, hoping to get a tarantula. I am a (strong) atheist. My favourite TV show is Scrubs, season 7 is awesome! I very highly recommend reading some of Richard Dawkins' books, I have only read a couple, but very good they are - he is very popular on youtube, have a look. Feel free to mail me about anything: fish, animals, pets in general, scrubs, comedy, vet-related things, atheism, religion etc, whatever takes your fancy. "Yesterday upon the stair; I met a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today; I wish, oh wish, he'd go away."

  • Does anyone know of some free video editing software?

I am looking for some free video editing software I can download. The only criteria I have is that I need it to be able to make pictures into a film (any normal format will do), but at a frame rate of at least 30 (different pictures) per second.

Adobe Premier Pro does this... but unfortuently I cant get it LEGALLY for free.

If anyone knows of some software that might help me, please answer!

    Thanks.

  • Why does my browser keep closing down?

My IE browser keeps on closing down, without warning, and without saying it has any errors. The weird thing is that it only closes down when I have Yahoo Mail open in a window. And, it can happen if I click something, or not, and when it does it closes all IE windows, which is hellishly annoying!

If it effects anything, in my internet options I have "Disable Script Debugging" in IE and in 'Other' clicked, I heard this WILL solve my problem... yeh right.

    Thanks for any help!

  • Trying to remember a film name, can anyone help?

Can anyone help me remember a film name?

I think it is a recent (ish) film, in colour. The plot is about a bunch of characters that end up all stopping at a motel in the USA, down a 'lonely road', in the middle of the night, when it is raining. Then, someone is murdered, and everyone accuses everyone else, and no one knows who it is.

They all find out they have the same birthday date; well, it turns out that all the characters are imaginary, and the whole film has been played out in a mans head, who is sat (in a straight jacket?) in a chair in a mental institute.

I really want to see it again, I remembered it being good, and I cant find the name of the film ANYWHERE... if any one could help that would be excellent.

    Thanks

  • Does my pharynx work?

I have various strange symptoms that I could do with a someone helping out with:

    1. When I cough, as has happened all my life, a lot of air goes through my nasopharynx, into my nares, and means I need to snif/blow my nose after coughing.

    2. Often when I snif, my ears pop. This happens more in the morning, more when it is wet weather (low pressure?) and more when I snif harder.

    3. I find it very difficult to breath in through my nose for extended periods. It is possible, but I become breathless and need to breath through my mouth after only a small number of breaths (5-10 maybe).

Well, thats it. Symptoms 2 and 3 sound like a relxed soft palate (relaxed tensor veli palatini?), or something similar. Symptom 3 seems to be the opposite: the soft palate stays in place to prevent breathing through the nose.

I feel I should mention I have cystic fibrosis. I take various medications, including nebulisers (which would predilect me to mouth breath, no?).

    Thanks in advance

  • I was thinking of using Yahoo Answers to do some reasearch, what do you think?

I was thinking of using YA to do some research. Do you think the results gained from Yahoo Answers would be a fair representative of the general population?

  • Can ethanol dehydrogenase in pseudomonas aeruginosa effect alcohol breakdown in humans?

I have Cystic Fibrosis, and have noticed that often, when drinking alcohol, I breakdown the alcohol quicker than anyone else (and quicker than I would have expected). As an example, the other night I drank 15 units in about 2 hours, and 1 hour later I was almost completely sober.

I searched the internet to see if Cystic fibrosis can effect ethanol breakdown, and the google results constistently came up with the fact that pseudomonas aeruginosa has a type of quinoprotein ethanol dehydrogenase in it. I grow pseudomonas aeruginosa on my lungs always (have all my life), and so wondered whether the ethanol dehydrogenase present could have an affect on the alcohol in me?

I mean, there is clearly alcohol present in the air in my lungs that I breath out, and pseudomonas aeruginosa has ethanol dehydrogenase in it, so is it breaking down the ethanol and making me sober!? I wish it wouldn't!

Thanks for your help in advance!

  • Why do I have arrhythmia after holding my breath?

I have noticed that after holding my breath, my heart rate is increased, but a coule of seconds after the increase, it suddenly pauses for up to a second, and then generally is slightly arrhythmic for the next 30 seconds. Is this normal? I have searched the internet and couldn't find anything.

    Thanks.

  • Where could I get a slow motion ("high speed") camera from?

Does anyone know where I can get a slow motion, or "high speed" camera from. Not too many fps, 100 or 200 or so, preferably second hand, or cheap! I have looked everywhere on the internet and cannot seem to find one that has the price on, that I can actually buy.
