What's the scariest moment you had with your baby?

that turned out to be absolutely nothing to worry about? We just saw a cardiologist today because my pediatrician said she heard a very loud and disturbing heart murmur at my son's last check up. The specialist said there is nothing wrong with my boy (thank heavens!). How many have had to go through the worrying and fear about a possible medical issue and then had their pediatrician be wrong?

Please note, I am not mad at my pediatrician, I'm grateful she took prompt action based on her observations, I'm just more grateful she was wrong this time. I'd rather have a paranoid doctor than one that didn't investigate and be proactive.

I agree! The scariest moment I ever had concerning our daughter was when we got in a car accident about a month ago. We were hit from the side and it crushed the backseat of our car. We had just switched her to a forward facing seat and it turns out that it saved her life. She was only nine months old at the time, but it was a move that I'm happy I made and will be grateful for for the rest of my life. My daughter came out of the accident completely unharmed even though we were beaten up pretty good. Waking up in a hospital with nobody around and not being able to know if your baby was alive was the worst thing In the world. I wouldn't wish the feeling upon anybosy. I thank my lucky stars that she is still here right now!

My scariest moment so far was 2 weeks ago at his 4 month wellness check up. The nurse took his temperature and it read 100.4! I was totally taken back because he didn't seem like he had a fever.. turned out, they were having problems with the thermometer she used. My pediatrician came in and took his temperature again and it was normal.

That's probably the scariest.. I had a really easy pregnancy and delivery.. and I have a pretty mellow baby. Best Wishes!

This isn't the scariest moment.....but it sure was the dumbest moment. I had to take my baby to a WIC appointment. He was about a month old at the time and I was a brand new mommy. It was in mid-May and the weather here is hot one day and cold the next in May. Well I had him dressed all cute looking in one of his new outfits. They ask that you take all their clothes off and when I did....he had red welt looking things ALL OVER HIM. I was in shock. My next thought was....OMG, they are going to think that I beat him! They kind of laughed and said, they didn't think that I beat him, but maybe he was getting hot in his outfit and that is why he had the welts. I was so embarrassed. The little guy didn't even make a peep that he was hot....who knew?

We havent had any scary moments like that except when I was in labor and trying to push her out. Everytime I would push she would go back up. The Doctor finally decided to use the vacuum to get her out and she couldnt get her our past her knees because the umbilical cord was wrapped up around her neck then down her chest and between her legs and up her back and around her neck again. Luckily the doctor was able to cut her free and she was perfectly fine. We were pretty freaked out for a few minutes though!

My baby was about 2 weeks old and I had gone to bed because Dad was on the night shift.

I woke up about 6am and went into the lounge, saw Husband asleep on the sofa but couldn't find baby.

I started frantically looking when I heard a little whimper....Dad had fallen asleep on the sofa with the baby and she had rolled down between him and the cushion...I only thank god I woke up when I did and neither of us will allow ourselves to fall asleep like that EVER again!¬!!!

    Truly terrifying!!

When my son was about 2, I went to my mums place and there was a bowl of boiled lollies in his reach that I didn't know about and he started to choke and all I could do was jump up and down screaming (i don't deal with things like that real good) thankfully my boyfriend at the time stuck his finger down my sons throat and got it out but It was sooo scary as by that time my son was blue!!!

My scariest moment isn't medically related(thank goodness).I was walking with my son in his carrier in a toboggan, and I hit a tire track. The carrier flipped out of the toboggan and landed upside down. Oddly enough he was crying before and stopped when he was upside down. Fortunately I had buckled him in.

scariest moment ever, he bumped his head on an ornamental dragon and hit it with such force it broke and he had a huge cut on his head that went blue and bled. we got him checked out but he was right as rain - just like his normal self from the moment he stopped crying.

i think you just panic in an accident situation - i was so worried, but im now trained in pediatric first aid so im a bit better prepared if he had another accident again.

she wriggled under her blanket one night, and i just randomly woke up in the night, thinking she hadn't woke up for a night feed. i quickly removed the blanket, and she was squirming. I was scared that was it, ive lost her. But thank God she was fine, the next night i kept her in a sleeping bag and will never do blankets again.
