There's alot of nursing jobs that you will be closed out of if you don't have your BSN - best to get the most education from the beginning, if you can (in my opinion).

When you first graduate the difference between what a BSN or an Assoc. Degree nurse will make wont be much of a difference. However, so many more interesting opportunities , overall, will open up to you with the BSN.

My daughter graduated 1 1/2 yrs ago with her BSN - made $60K right out the door with her first job. I've worked part-time and per-diem for years making around $25.00 / hr. (working when/ where I want)

    1. Check out Salary.com's website to find out salary ranges for nurses in your area.

    2. It's ultimately your choice on which degree to get. However, you will be paid more with the bachelor's degree and the associate's degree is not as valuable as it once was -for example, if most of your competition in applying to jobs has a bachelor's degree while you only have an associates degree, it will be tough to get hired.

My wife made 80K her first year out of school....but she finished with a four year degree. It is less if you have only an associates.
