Rock and Roll Part B and Gary Glitter?

I posted this in Society and Culture and only got 1 answer, so I'm trying here.

Gary Glitter is a sex offender. He was convicted in the UK of downloading 4000 pictures of child pornography. His is banded from Cambodia and has spent the last 3 years in a Viet Nam prison for sexual child abuse. He also wrote Rock & Roll A and B.

My question: Do you think it is appropriate for high school bands to continue playing this song during football and basketball games?

I am so glad you asked this. I have been saying this for a few years now since his arrest. People look at me strangely but I feel that since most sporting events and such have children in attendance, the song is not appropriate.

Happy that another brilliant mind is thinking out there...........

I suppose the only plus about playing this perv's music at events, is most kids wouldn't be able to identify the artist, it would be their parents or even their grandparents who would have this information.

The Glitter Band also contributed to the success of the music, why penalise them, I'm also sure they would like to be dis-associated with him, but can't change the past can we?

    Ex Glitter fan from NZ.
