Why did the Democrats choose Obama?

Maybe I'm looking at this wrong but I need to say it.

Why did the Democrats choose Obama? He is a junior Senator from Illinois. He has been in the Senate for 1 term and has spent some of it campaigning. Most of his experience is at the state level, not the federal or international level.

He choose Joe Biden as his running mate. Biden was the first candidate to drop out after Iowa. Doesn't that mean that the people did not want him in the administration? I've been a register Democrat since 1972 and my wife changed to Democrat this year. We are so disappointed that the Democrats choose someone that "talks the talk but can't walk the walk". Thanks for letting me vent. Opinions are welcome.

He won the nomination. Clearly more Democrats bought into his record and platform. That's how we choose a nominee.

It will be interesting to see how many of the people who claim they are going to vote for Obama, actually do when they get in the voting booth alone by themselves where no one will know.........where they don't have to be politically correct. I think a lot of dems and anyone else with a desire to be left standing is going to vote for McCain because he will kick *** rather then let us down. He'll lead with his heart and not take time to find out whether its a good political move for his career, he will do what he believes is right for us. It might not always be my choice but I believe in his sincerity. As I watch Obama I see him being groomed and handled and although he doesn't understand right now that there is going to be a cost, when he gets the bill for all these services rendered to his career he is going to be shocked and dismayed. And these guys make the mafia look like wussies. They will take their pound of flesh right off the top. At 71 McCain hasn't got as much of a future to destroy and he can make the decisions he needs to without fearing special interests hijacking his career. Politics is always all about the next election. McCain has much less to lose than Obama.

I look at Obama's Junior status as an opportunity. He is less affiliated, and less corrupt than politicians that have been in office as long as McCain. His tax cuts and economic plans very much resemble Bill Clinton's plans. Remember how they made fun of those ideas, and then 29 million jobs were created and our economy was on the right track.

Biden adds the experience that Obama lacks. Obama doesn't want a yes-man, and he didn't get one in Biden. Obama is also a constitutional lawyer. He has actually taught constitutional law. I heard a speech, where Obama talked about abortions: How he didn't approve because of his faith, but he believed in the right of choice.

Bush wasted millions of tax dollars passing laws against late term abortions, just for those laws to be struck down by the Supreme Court. Roe vs. Wade is not a law, it is a CONSTITUTIONAL LAW. Something that can't be knocked out by the senate or congress, or a president. Obama would have known this.

Obama has refused to take any money from Lobbyists, or special interest groups. McCain has already taken 4 million dollars from the Oil Industry...wonder if that will bias his decisions in office?

they chose Obama because he did not carry around him the stench of entrenched insider

The person who was paraded and trumpeted as the "inevitable" candidate, underestimated her opponent and felt that everyone would fall over themselves to give her the nomination since it was her "time" and her last name was Clinton

He never took the voters for granted and did not discount small states. he campaigned in 48 states and 7 territories. He never said they did not matter.

Biden dropped out because the spotlight was never really on him but on Hillary first and then Obama. the others never stood a chance.

While he has been a 1st term US Senator, he was a State Senator for 8 years. He knows what it is like to work to get things done by talking to colleagues vs getting things distilled to him through aides th way they do when you are in the US Senate

I am sorry but Hillary did not walk the walk either. It was not until she ran out of money in early Jan that she even talked to reporters and consorted with them She had had a separate charter plane to take her places.

I think people also tend to forget that he knows what it is to be a working class person and was not born into wealth and privilege.

The Democrats chose Obama because, A, they decided he best represents their views, and B, they decided he could beat the Republican campaign slime machine and Hillary couldn't. They knew their nominee would be running against Dubya and Karl Rove no matter who the Dark Side's nominee was. They chose Obama because he showed he would take the Republican lies and call them lies and shove those lies right back down the liars' throats. And so he has. And he picked Biden for the same reason: Unlike Joe Lieberman and John Edwards, he has a pulse.

It's this pesky thing called the democratic process. The same one that will have him win the election in November.

TruthSeeker: Hillary would have been just as historic as the first woman, so let's not go there.

There was only one way for the Demos to lose this election even with who the publicans are running, and that was have HRC and BHO to run. They fell for it. I lost all faith in the American voter after Dubya got reelected for a second term.

Because they already knew who Clinton was.

They had hoped against hope that Obama wouldn't turn out to be even worse.

    They just got it wrong.

    It happens.

    Anybody remember Jimmy Carter?

    They were bought.

Obama was selected not elected. Hillary received the majority of the votes in the Democrat primaries but neither she nor Obama had enough delegates to get the nomination, so the Super Delegates selected Obama.

    The superdelegates are for sale.
