I need to get some more speed?

I am a distance runner and I need more speed. To get really good I need more speed because at the end kids keep out running me to the finish. What should I do to get me faster in speed? I am not very fast. Please give me some workouts.

Well I would recommend doing intervals of about 30-50m while you run maybe a 2-4 mile. Run as fast as you can for 30-50m and then return to your normal pace for about 800m. Also when you are not doing that or your normal training I would recommend running a few (maybe up to 10) 50-100m sprints with weight or tension behind you to strengthen your legs and help with the quick bursts of speed.

    Good Luck in the races

do some speedwork. try 2 mile repeats with a 2 minute interval between each. give yourself a set time to hit on every lap. after the second mile, do an 800 with another 2 minute interval, and then four 400 meters with a one minute interval between each. try to lower your times in each thing every week. you should notice that you wont be getting outsprinted at the end much any more.

    good luck!

    run everyday.

and those kids who are beating you in the last 100meters or so should have spread there energy out throughout the race so tell them that theyre doing it wrong
