Howcome my arms feel heavy?

Whenever I run a race and I'm going fast my legs never feel heavy it's always my arms. Why is that? Is it maybe my arms are tired or is it because my heart rate is high? Thanks

Your arms feel heavy because your body is sending all of the blood to your legs and lungs.

That is why people say their arms go numb in long sprints.

You can try to relax your hands and arms, don't tense up.

If you do interval training to develop stress endurance you can reduce this feeling.

Get checked out, you may have a circulation problem, this is not normal, unless you are obese and way out of shape. Also, it could be the lactic acid making it's way into your arms like the pain you feel in your side when you run. But kudos on you for exercising (racing) NEVER STOP.

well the main reason is cause your getting tired and the lactic acid build up in them. to help with the arms you should work them out and don't worry about it too much because im pretty sure every runner gets this.

try to relax your arms more. don't make clench up your hands and just let your arms swing slightly by your side, not across your body. good luck!
