Does lifting heavy objects make you shorter?

On Friday, I was part of the team making the school concert work as planned, and it did go well. However, I did spend quite a bit of time lifting big stacks of chairs, and heavy instruments.

Although I have read articles disproving that compression isn't related to getting shorter, I may have been a bit paranoid about my height, since there are a few things around that is usually at eye level, and today, it seemed different, maybe because I really did get "compressed", or it's just me distorting my memories.

Why is this such a big deal to me? I'm a quarter year away from being 18, and my goal is to reach 1 to 1.5 inches taller before I'm fixed with my height. It's just me blending in with the current average height.

Update:

Time to add some details:

I'm pretty sure that at some point, I did mess up my form. Will stretching exercises compensate for this?

No. I doubt you lifted anything to heavy. Even people squatting 700+ lbs will not become shorter.

    No, don't worry about it.

Some people might experience a bit of spine compression after having a heavy bar on their back from year and years but they might only lose an inch or so.

No, lifting heavy objects does not make you shorter. Unless of course you do so without form and use your back to lift things. When you use your back to lift things it compresses your spine which can cause long term damage and stunt your growth.

don't worry about it, i'm tall too and once even i wanted to be shorter cus most of my good friends were shorter and a few girls i like were shorter but now that i'm older, my heights startin to pay off cus lots of girls like taller men so as i said in the beginning 'Don't worry about it' and as for the lifting weights, i'm not sure it'll work.
