I have an older treadmill that skips a lot. It hasn't been used in quite a while.?

Is it possible it just needs to be oiled or something? The belt doesn't seem to be hitting the side, and looks like it's pretty tight on there, but... I don't know what I'm looking for. I've seen other comments where people suggest to use an allen wrench to tighten either side of the thing to get the belt adjusted just right, but... I am not sure that this is one of those cases. It seems to be skipping if you put your foot down too heavily.

Update:

Where do I go for this "professional service," and what kind of costs are we talking here, do you think? This is intended as an alternative to a gym membership, to save money, lol. What kind of companies offer this service, and do I have to haul the thing to them, or can they come to my home?

Update 2:

As for "diet suggestions," I'm through with dieting. I've taken OTC pills - I've taken controlled prescription pills - I've done every diet known to man, even dumped a few hundred dollars on Weight Watchers (although I did like it). The only time I lost weight was when I was so sick I couldn't even TALK about food. Now, I just want to be healthier, and be able to run instead of huff around walking.

its just like anything...even your body...when its inactive for a while...and you start making it active...its rusty...tight...needs to be oiled up. Try running it by itself for a while to get it warmed up. If this does not work, call the manufacturer...they shuld guide youthe right way as far as repairs go

It needs replacing or professional service.
