ATV Backfiring?......?

I have a 2002 Yamaha Warrior 350 ATV. I've kept it i good condition, as there is no deep scrapes or dents on the body. Though, one day, I went out riding with my friend and I rode it harder than usual. He had a dirt track and his trails were extremely bumpy.

A few days after I rode with him, I took my ATV out for a short ride and I noticed it was backfiring every so often. It's not a loud backfire, it's like 2-3 consecutive pops, usually when I let of the gas.

I've never experienced backfiring with my ATV before until the day I rode with my friend. What's causing the backfire? Is it hard to fix?

maybe all the bouncing around has made an exhaust leak this will cause backfiring on over run

Depends on the altitude of where you where riding most likely. ATV engines are motorcycle engines with four wheels and if the bike is tuned slightly lean the ATV will pop and fart the higher you go. the only solution is to get the mixture more rich in altitude.
