Can I get any financial help?

I earn £10k a year working in a school, and I am doing a degree full time on the Open University. However I have such little money each month- it works out about £550 a month that I can't afford to live anywhere or anything. Does anyone know if I can claim any money from the government to give me a bit extra each month to afford somewhere to live. I'm 21 and live in the UK.

Hi Anon, I'm not sure but if you have a Citizen's Advice Bureau near you go and visit them and see if they can help. Good luck with your degree

In the United States, the first place to check would be the university. It should know of all the grants and loan programs available to full time students. Then, see if your school system has any incentives for people who are getting a degree.

I've had a friend who ate two meals a day - one from the cafeteria where she worked. Another ate Ramen noodles and peanut butter and crackers with Tang.
