Im having problems with my 02 tacoma, can anyone help?

I have a 2002 tacoma 2 wheel drive. It was overheating very quickly, so I assumed it was the head gasket, well I was wrong. It is still doing the same thing. After only 10 minutes of running the water gets so hot it leaks out where the water pump connects and you can here the water just boiling away. The lower radiator hose that goes into the bottom of the motor also shrinks and swells from all of the heat. Also if you take the oil cap off of the valve cover there is tons of back pressure and it spits oil out at you. Could the head be cracked? Or does it sound like I need to rebuild the motor? Any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Update:

I forgot to mention it is the 4 cylinder motor and has 170,000 miles.

Update 2:

It runs and idles perfect, just overheats very quick and alot of pressure up top. If Im guessing I think the piston rings are bad.

Sounds like you might have some blow by happening.

Compression is getting past the rings and into the crankcase.
