Creating a second Paypal account instead of going through the name change process?
I have some funds in my paypal account I'd like to withdraw. The problem is my bank account's first name is different than my Paypal account's first name. A withdrawal won't process if the names don't match.
Paypal has a process you can go through to change the name on your account providing the necessary documents and bank statements.
Wouldn't it be easier to create a second account, send yourself the money, close the first account(the one with the wrong name) and continue from there? Could paypal find out if I have 2 personal accounts with in such a short time and what would they do if they did find out? I'm aware you're only allowed a personal and business or premier account.
To the first answerer. How is it fraud if I change my name and now have bank accounts registered to a name that does not match Paypal. Paypal provided me a process which involves faxing/uploading bank statements and ID, which I don't feel comfortable doing.
If you were paypal or the bank, would you allow, say Eric, to withdraw into Zach's account? Paypal wouldn't be the one's necessarily doing a name verification. My bank wouldn't be able to accept the payment and in all likelihood Paypal would also charge me a fee for a failed withdrawal. Thanks for your post though, unfortunately it was absolutely no help.

It would be FRAUD. Your information is also wrong. If you linked the bank account to your PayPal account, you can transfer your PayPal balance to that account with no name verification.

Sorry, but sounds like if you won't just fax in the papers to prove who you are..maybe you are up to no good. I have initials on my PayPal account, not my name and I have never had a problem with my business account there.
You have to remember if you start a new account, you have to give them your social security number. This is how they find people with multiple accounts.
Just fax your stuff if you have nothing to hide.
