World War Two Regiment Info?
I want to find information about my grandpa's regiment from WWII. On his old pay stubs it says "Hqs Btry 173d FA Bn". I know he said he was in the 173d field artillery. However I can't find any record of this regiment. All I can find is stuff about the 173d Airborne, which he was not in. He started out the war in Oman on September 1943. On June 6 1944 they were in Rome. If anyone could please help me that would be great. I have more info if that would help.
It is an American Regiment. My Grandpa was from Niagara Wisconsin. That probably won't help much but if there is anything else I can add to help just say so.

First problem - It is not a "Regiment" you should be researching ( a Regiment is composed of 3 - 4 Battalions).
Your info equates to "Headquarters Battery, 173rd Field Artillery Battalion".
Continue your search with these correct details.
Good luck.
