What are the types of plastic surgeons?

I am interested in a career in plastic surgery, however, I do not know all of the sub-categories, and all the different jobs there are to work. I am not looking for the types of surgeries, but the doctor titles one could get. Also, after getting a MD, what is next to fulfill this "dream job"?

A plastic surgeon is a plastic surgeon, meaning you technically can perform any sort of cosmetic or reconstructive surgery. Basically you will find a specialty, or a certain set of surgeries that you have had ample training in and perform on a regular basis. Basically it's going to break down to cosmetic surgery or reconstructive surgery of the face/body. Which procedures you choose to perform is something you decide.

Once you become an MD (which means 4 years undergrad, 4 years med school) you will have a three year general residency, 2-3 year surgical residency, and then a fellowship if you choose to do so.

You can choose what procedures you choose to offer, like the other person who answered your question said, but you can specialize in one thing from all those procedures. Take for example my surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer. He offers procedures from breast to tummy and nose surgeries on his regular website http://www.balharboursurgery.com,/ but then he has another website for his specialty of rhinoplasty at http://www.nosekingofmiami.com./ There are a lot of options, but this is just an example of what most surgeons do that I've seen.
