sometimes dogs won't eat when their owners go away ... how long as it been the dog not eating or drinking ??? and i am not sure what a blue riband biscuit is or a breakaway is but if both are for humans, i can not see it being a problem unless one is a bar of solid dark chocolate ... i would be most concerned that the dog is not drinking ... you could try giving her popsicles or freezies (not sure what those are called in the UK) which are basically water and sugar which she might find a bit of a treat and provide some hydration and a little sugar energy ... if she is stressed about being left by her owners you should just let her be and come to you when she is ready ... but do post how long the dog has gone without food or water

One and a half chocolate biscuits will no likely have hurt her, unless she's a very small dog. If you think she may be poisoned, take her to a vet right away, or else risk killing your friend's dog.

As for her hunger strike, that's not unusual. I'm a petsitter and some dogs do this because they're upset about the situation. If she is not drinking any water at all, there may be something actually physically wrong with her. You didn't say how long you've been watching her or how long ago she ate the chocolate. If this behavior began shortly after her person left, then it's probably just emotional.

When in doubt, though, take her to a vet. At the very least, call your neighbor and explain what's going on.

She sounds depressed without her owner.

You do need to get her at least drinking. Try putting a spoonful of honey in her water. Apart from liking it and encouraging her to drink, it also has energy in it and so will help.

Chocolate is toxic to a dog, and although some (very few) dogs react to a small amount, most don't so she should be ok with that.

I personally would put a lead on her and jolly her up and go out for a good walk and try and get her playing with a toy or something.

Sorry to down someone else's suggestion, but do not get a bone from the butchers unless you know she is used to them. It will affect her tummy and you don't know how she will be with a stranger (you) with a bone.

  • She shouldn't have any sort of chocolate at all as it is toxic to dogs. She may have an upset tummy. She is probably just missing her owners and is a little depressed.

Try feeding her something tasty like boiled (boneless) chicken and rice. Give her some attention and affection - take her on a little walk and play with her.

dogs shouldn't really have chocolate not to worry now but never give a dog raisins or grapes,

if she doesn't have any water u could get a plastic syringe from the vet and fill it with water and insert it at the side of her mouth, hopefully it won't come to that , just talk to her reassuringly

you're able to have him come over for a on a similar time as and play alongside with your dogs in the event that they get alongside so he won't be lonely. once you're useful on your neighbor's dogs, i'm confident she/he will return the desire. i could. you need to be okay to stroll them at the same time. in case you do no longer understand how he walks on a leash i could take him on my own down the line just to work out first then take them the two. canines walk diverse on my own than they do with different canines. have confidence me on that in case you in no way had extra desirable than a million dogs. yet the two way, as long as you tutor management, they are going to do precisely nice. short leash works extra effective for 2 canines. the two certainly one of them can pull on the comparable time with too long of a leash and that they are going to smell diverse section on the comparable time so which you will get a sprint tie up. :-) even in spite of the indisputable fact that that's fairly exciting.

ah, sure she's just missin her ma, she'll be fine...if you feel really guilty, buy the dog a nice bit of meat or get her a bone from the butchers...when she's thirsty she'll drink, when she's hungry she'll eat
