Just Started Insanity - Knee Pain?

Am 24 years old, 5'10" male, currently weigh 219

A year and a half ago, I weigh 180. Five years ago, I was at approximately 200 pounds, so although I weigh more right now, my body shouldn't be completely unused to carrying extra weight.

I did the fit test, my knees hurt instantly after 1.5 minutes.

I did some reading and found out that I should be jumping/landing on my toes, I did this and noticed less pain. I am using New Balance 407 shoes that are probably a year old, I would be lead to believe that if I replace the shoes (running shoes instead of walking shoes + new shoes = 99% pain reduction).

Or maybe I should lose 10-20 pounds before I begin something like insanity. I am only 24, I have worked out before quite intensely, I don't know why this is suddenly such a problem. Any advice?

I highly recommend a New Balance cross trainer, MX1011. This New Balance shoe is a hybrid between a running shoe and a cross trainer. The solid foundation will be great for all purpose but most importantly will keep your ankles and knees in a neutral alignment. The straighter the ankles and knees are, the less strain and tension they feel during and after your working out. I know of no equal shoe in the industry! This top shelf New Balance cross trainer is worth every penny. You won't even think about your knees anymore. It even comes in different widths (B-narrow, D-medium, 2E-wide and 4E-extra wide. Please keep me posted on your progress.
