What do you think about the new GANTZ live action movie?

Arashi's Nino and actor Matsuyama Kenichi are going to star in this movie, and I personally think it's a great casting! Nino and Matsuyama-san are both great actors, so I don't see what the big problem is.

Many people are opposing the movie because...

1. They think that being suitable for general audiences, there will be less violence, which they think will "ruin the reputation of the manga"

2. Most people sterotype Arashi members as gay, so they don't think Nino is suited for the character.

3. Not many people know how amazing of an actor Nino and Matsuyama-san actually is.

4. They think that since Death Note (starring Matsuyama-san) wasn't good, they think the same will happen for GANTZ.

5. Other reasons that they state about the movie being suckish.

Well, here's a small side note:

CNN wrote an article about Japanese actors who can actually act. Out of about 7 actors/actresses they listed, Nino was one of them.

Nino has won numerous and various awards for his acting.

I'm not trying to be rude to people who oppose the casting, but I just want to know everyone's honest opinions. I understand that the people reading the manga might not like it being turned into a live action movie, but they way they get their points across is very rude and disrespectful to the actors/actresses, me, and everyone else who is waiting for the movie. If you do oppose the movie, I would like to hear your opinions about it and why you don't like it. Of course, I welcome happy opinions as well. I just want to know what everyone is thinking about this.

I just got really furious because everyone is saying "this movie will be screwed up" and other things and they HAVEN'T even seen the movie yet. I would like for them to wait to comment AFTER the movie is in theaters.

    Just my thoughts.

From the people opposing the casting's perspective or you asked me reason I would not like it.

    1. Maybe because the the anime is not nice, 26 episodes and the ending concluded is not so nice ----> though this may only apply to those who read the manga which I do.

    2. Therefore, even with 26 episodes, it is unable to conclude the ending well enough, and if a movie, which the duration is definitely lesser than the anime, it's probably even harder to conclude the movie(well, maybe not to our expectation)

But I would still watch Gantz if there's a movie for it. What would make me watch it is

    1) I'm interested what story they would think of for this movie.

    2) I read the manga and find it really nice, and that's the only reason I watch the anime. And of course, a live action drama would be normal that I would want to watch.

But if there's too much blood or gore, I may not watch it since I'm.... a coward xD

Side note: I continue read the manga even of the killing and stuff because of the really good storyline.

Just my thoughts. Don't get angry with me. =)

More often than not, live-action movies based on anime don't fare well. The main reason for this is that in an anime, you can do nearly ANYTHING while, even with CGI, human bodies are limited. I saw the entire GANTZ anime(wasn't able to find the manga) and i enjoyed it. Hopefully the movie will be a sucess. Listen to your Dr. Lao.
