You need to speak to your doctor. You can't just decide what and how much medicine to take yourself. Ask about the generic amlodipine.

The generic name for Adalat is 'Nifedipine' and it is made by Bayer. The generic for Norvasc is 'Amlodipine Besylate made by Pfizer. These drugs do the similar things (ie Channel blockers in hypertension), BUT they are NOT the same. Do not change the dosage from what your Doctor gave you - you could do some serious damage.

    I agree with the above.

Why do you want to reduce the dose? Are you experiencing any side effects? If you are you need to discuss this with the doctor who prescribed the medication. He/she will make the decision to change the dose or switch to another medication.

There are many medications for hypertension and Norvasc is not a first line treatment. There may have been a specific reason that you were prescribed this drug instead of the standard first line therapies.
