Samsung Galaxy s3 help plz?

When I unlock the screen, it has the lock picture (literally, a lock) and before, I just had to swipe and it would have ripples. I don't want the look to be there. So I looked under settings and found the ripple effect checkbox, except I can't select it. How come? I don't think I did anything differently, so why all of the sudden did it start popping up everytime I unlock it? I don't want it there. Plz help, thanks!

I don't want the LOCK to be there.

you can remove them by drag and drop to the recycle bin.
