What is the best vector format for Illustrator?

I'm attempting to use Illustrator to work on a poster board for class. When downloading vectors, it's giving me the options of WMF, JPG, EPS, CDR. Which one is the accurate one for illustrator?

If you have any tips on making a poster board with illustrator that would be great. I also need advice on how to print it.

Thanks all.

Illustrator will allow you to create an image using shapes and paths using the shape, line, pen tools, as well as other treatments. If you are importing other images into your workspace, you can use File>Place> then search for your image. The format should not make a difference for images you are adding to the piece. Keep in mind that if you enlarge the image, it will likely pixelate.

When you save the image you have created, save as Adobe Illustrator (.ai) and this will maintain your file as an editable vector file.

When you print, expand any type (select all text frames, go Object>Expand> (stroke & fill)), then Save As PDF, this will likely be your most compatible format for printing.

Since you are doing a larger project, you'll probably have to go to office max or kinkos or something to have them print it for you.

    hope that helps
