Why are mass shootings considered to be more significant than multiple isolated single deaths?

I get annoyed when people try to justify not caring about mass shootings by comparing it to multiple isolated single deaths, which they use its everyday occurrence to denounce the significance of a mass shooting.

What can I include in my argument? I've already taken care of the counter-argument to comparisons to developing countries, but within the US, what makes a mass shooting more significant than single, isolated shootings?

Same as when someone buys one item, compared to someone obsessed with it.

For example, I have a pen from Disneyland.

There was a guy featured on TV with his ENTIRE HOUSE filled with Disney products.

The fact that one person goes out of their way to do something in excess is different than one person doing one thing once.

    Ok?

If a person kills one person, sometimes that could be called a "crime of passion," almost an accident.

    26?

VERY deliberate, harder to believe... difficult to make sense of... more disturbing.

I'm not sure what more I can say. That should sum it up.

Every lost life should be mourned and action should be taken to prevent that in the future. I think both crimes are equally evil. With that being said mass shootings create much more trauma to the witnesses, survivors and also make people feel unsafe in the public spaces like schools, malls etc. Mass killers usually deliver a message and want media attention so that the message can be spread out. It is often followed by the suicide of the killer and therefore can bring no justice to the victims and those who survive. Both acts of terror are horrible and i don't think anybody can say that one is lesser evil than the other.

Death is devastating whether a single person or multiple people are killed. When a larger amount of people are killed at the same time by the same person/people, the devastation is multiplied. If you lost one finger...you have nine more left. When You lose all fingers on one hand, it's gonna be hard to complete day-to-day activities.
