Poll: tattoo artists with no visible tattoos...?

I have two tattoos, and admittedly the first shop I went to was quite sketchy. I was underage and they didn't ask for ID...you get the picture. But, one random thing that bugged me about the artists who worked there was the fact that neither of them had any tattoos (at least none I could see). I've since gotten both tats "fixed" at a retuable shop that was recommended by friends, and all the artists were pretty much covered in ink, which instantly made me feel more comfortable. My question is, am I alone in this, or is it kind of a taboo/unnerving thing to be tattooed by an artist who appears to have none himself?

EVERY artist I know is covered, and I know a lot..sounds like you went to a shady place to begin with, tattooing you with no I.D. probably means their equipment wasn't sterile, their "shop" wasn't sterile...they didn't have tattoos themselves because they couldn't afford them and they all knew that they sucked at giving them!
