You are talking about a time when we had a major tech boom. Many of our current problem came from things Clinton did. NAFTA, the housing bubble are 2 off the top of my head.

I was in the military under Clinton. He deployed us more than all of the presidents since WWII, and we were not getting cost of living raises. You had E-5's with families that were on food stamps.

This was a joke when it was written. Little did they know:

"My fellow Americans," Bush said, "at long last, we have reached the end of the dark period in American history that will come to be known as the Clinton Era, eight long years characterized by unprecedented economic expansion, a sharp decrease in crime, and sustained peace overseas. The time has come to put all of that behind us."

The Clinton years were good because of the economic wave of the Reagan and Bush years. But by the end of Clinton's time in office our economy was controlled by an oligopoly (monopoly of the few) who were outsourcing the production. And we entered a recession.

Everyone, but unless we can raise the taxes on the rich back to Clinton levels to fill the revenue hole caused by the Bush tax cuts, then that will not happen.

Getting taxed out of house and home while the government says it collected a "surplus of taxes". Yeah sure-if I can have my old house back. I was a poor taxi driver making in the upper 20's income and I was paying well over two thousand in income taxes a year!
