anyone ever have rocker box gasket problems with a sportster?

My 84 sporty usually needs a front rocker box gasket every six months! The last time I used Yamabond with the same result. This time im going to try Permetex copper. Anyone else have this problem or a good idea?

Check the engine surfaces with a straight edge.

Any imperfections will cause gasket leakage.

You are over-tightning the bolts and that is why it keeps leaking. You may strip them and they will always leak after that. Get new replacement gaskets which are rubber coated metal and are far superior to the OEM gasket.

What's a Harley without an oil leak?

Another reason might be that the engine is running too lean due to a freer-flowing exhaust without an up-jet.
