Ted Cruz and the presidential race.?

I have been out of the country for a bit, but i do not remember the constitution being changed. Ted Cruz was born in Canada, that makes him ineligible for the presidency. Am I missing something or is everyone ignoring this.

Old news. He had a choice of being American or Canadian since his mother was American. He chose America. He is eligible.

Everyone is ignoring this because he's a Republican and only Republicans require candidates who are clearly Americans to provide documented proof that their birth certificates haven't been faked. If Ted Cruz were a Democrat we would be looking for his real Cuban father and questioning whether his birth certificate and/or the newspaper accounts of his birth had been faked .

No some other liberal trolls are trying to make the birther situation a thing like hillary did when campaigning against obama. But they are not getting anywhere since Cruz was born an American.

Cruz is a natural born American citizen, which is what the Constitution calls for, if you trouble yourself to read the document and learn exactly what the term means.

At least one of his parents was a US citizen, therefore, is fully eligible to be President. Even a person that hates the US is eligible to be president. I just hope our citizens are smart enough to know the country must survive for the LEFT's promises to be delivered.

Of course, you are missing something.

Despite rumors to the contrary, a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN is one who is not naturalized.. he is a citizen FROM BIRTH. It does not require being born on American soil.. children of military born while overseas are US citizens. McCain is great example.. he was born in Panama, but qualified as natural born citizen.

In some cases of dual citizenship, the child also is entitled to US citizenship. That is not being naturalized.

No double standard. Lack of knowledge is the only issue here. I hate Cruz, but I don't dispute his citizenship qualification.

    ps

if you try to argue that it means ONLY BORN ON US SOIL.. you are mistaken, and making a fool of yourself.

I remember the claims that Obama wasn't eligible because he was born in Kenya....even after he presented a birth certificate. And the claims of "not enough experience" because he was a half term Senator.

Yet here Republicans are, promoting two half term senators (Cruise and Rubio) and one born outside of the US. Cruze even has a Canadian citizenship! Hypocrites, all of them.

It certainly has something to do with skin color.

It Cruz had not been white, Trump would have been all over him demanding to see his birth certificate. However, for political purposes, white men are assumed to be real americans, even if born in a foreign country.

You can be born out of the US and still be a naturalized citizen if one or both of your parents are Americans.

i.e. John McCain, born in Panama to US parents

He was born to American citizens, which automatically makes him eligible
