I have a Behringer QX2442USB mixing console. In order to use this with an electric guitar direct or do I need an adaptor?

I own a similar (X1832USB) mixer. The manual shows a guitar being connected through a "direct box", but it isn't really necessary. I've plugged my guitar directly into the 1/4 inch jack on a regular channel, and it worked fine. The "Gain" control gives you some control over the input sensitivity, so experiment with that if the level is either too low, or high to the point of distortion/clipping.

From what I can see in the manual, it does not have any high-impedance inputs suitable for guitars.

The only instance of a guitar connected shows it going through an intermediate device.

You may find you can just use some effects pedal with the effect level turned to zero so it works as a buffer amp.

A guitar pickup is badly affected by a low-impedance load, but once it's fed via any kind of active electronics the loading should have little effect other than possibly the level.

Other than that you need a guitar "direct inject" preamp that gives a low-impedance output compatible with a mike or line in.

Bad wording... what mean is in order to plug in an electric guitar with the standard 1/4th inch plug, can I plug an electric guitar directly into one of the 1/4 inch input jacks on my mixer, or do I have to go through an adaptor first?
