How do I burn an audio disc in WMA format in Windows 10? Can I set the bit rate like I used to a few years ago?

That feature doesn't exist in Windows Media Player 12, the one in Windows 10, but I did read about a work around.

"Microsoft didn’t remove the bit rate converter completely, just removed it from CD burners.

You can workaround the issue by first synchronising to a USD drive (reducing bit rate) and then burning the files to disc.

    Plug in a USB drive.

Open the Windows Media Player Options.

From the devices tab select the USB drive and click properties.

From the Quality tab select maximum quality level. Set the maximum quality level and click apply the changes.(the above settings only need to be done once)

Instead of creating a burn list, you must create a Sync list.

Sync the files to the USB drive at which point WMP will reduce the bit rate.

Now burn the music files from the USB drive to a CD using any burning method.

It does seem stupid for Microsoft to remove a feature that people want to use when the functionality is still present in the software, they just stop you using it."

In THAT case the net effect is an inferior recording if at any step you must reduce the bit rate. The chain is only as strong as its weakest link. In effect Microsoft is forcing us to accept lower recording quality, probably no better than average MP3's I still have one computer running on an operating system prior to Window's 8. I will never upgrade the OS on that machine so that I CAN set the bit rate to 192k WMA.
