Opinion on hamster balls?

I've been thinking to get one for my Syrian as we wait for his playpen to deliver. I've heard a lot of public debate over whether or not using them is a good idea? Generally, I've been thinking yes. Anything else I should consider?

What hamsters I have seen that have adjusted to balls, really seem to love them.

Like anything new though, your hamster has to see the ball as something good and learn to trust it,

I think they are very good, they give your pet exercise and never seem bored. It is also hard for them to escape, and actually safer than free running.

Breezing through a book on hamsters at the pet store, I noticed a chapter on the balls and how to get your hamster to enjoy them, might be worth the book.

The thing to remember about the hamster ball is that the time spent in the ball should be limited to no more than about 15 minutes at a time per day.

Well my hamster loves his ball a lot and it's a really good way for your pet to get exercise without letting just roam free.but they can only be in the ball for 30 minute and then they start feeling scared.

Bad. Bad bad bad. Hampsters, like many rodents, don't have the best eye sight, so they rely on their other senses, like smell, to get around and stay safe.

Hampster balls obstruct these senses, which is why they run around in the ball so much. They're freaking out and trying to find a way out. Honestly, it'd probably be better to just put the ball in his cage on its side as an extra hide, so it can benefit him.
