How should I rehome my mice?

I got two fancy mice about a month ago and I realize now they're not fit to my lifestyle. Please don't harass me over being irresponsible--I did research and they're living in a large cage and getting a healthy diet of veggies and seed mix daily. The only problem is that they're two tiny, scared little girls and all their care takes me a good forty five minutes each day and I can't bond with them as well as I'd hoped. I did research, but honestly nothing can account for personality types. I'm sure there are bold, playful mice out there somewhere but right now I can't see it in them. And I want better for them than I can provide.

However, I've looked around. None of my friends or relatives want to take them after I tell them how much work it is. I wouldn't want to give them, then have them realise they can't take care of them. Right now, the best home I can find for my mice is my own, and they deserve so much more than what I provide them with.

So how can I get them to a home that will provide for them and give them a happy life?

Well I would love to have your mice, they are no work for me, i am old hat with them.

You might try running an ad in the paper, free pet mice to a good home.

There are rodent rescue sites you can subscribe to and perhaps find someone near you to take them.

I do not suggest craigslist at all, a poor place for this, and some snake keeper may just want to feed them to the snake.

You just have to work at asking around, but I hope you can tell a good home for them when you find one,

If you have an ASPCA animal shelter, you could ask if they would take them, ours would, and they would get a good home.

Might mean giving up the cage, if you have future pets in mind.

Really wish I could help, good luck.
