There are lots of great bars and places to eat. There are casinos. Look into some of the city tours. Plenty of site seeing both in and just outside of the city. i moved just outside of Detroit a few years ago. I am happy here. Plenty to do when people come to see me.

Depending on what you want to do, you can have a solid, fun filled long weekend. Also don't forget your passport if you want to cross the bridge to Canada.

Yes...but just visit the places where there are a lot of people around. I heard Detroit can be quite dangerous.

There are so called "ghost town" areas of Detroit that draw a few morbid onlookers. But the downtown and Renaissance area is now filled with tech start ups, hipster coffee joints, live music and a pretty cool vibe. So it wouldn't be unheard of for someone to take a tourist trip to Detroit. The prices are certainly affordable right now.

All depends on where in Detroit. Lots of bad areas.
