I have Asperger’s Syndrome. With the way I keep eating and eating, it appears that I don’t care. Is it the intense focus on food? ?

My mom wants me to be serious about losing weight, but I don’t know what serious situations are. I am 5’1 and I weigh 195.

My mom has said I talk too much about dieting, but I show little to no interest in the actual subject. She has tried to help by steering me towards a healthier lifestyle. I’ll talk about dieting but not do it and prefer to eat what I want instead. Maybe I’m talking about dieting because it’s easier and less demanding than actually doing it? My mom has said I talk a good deal but I don’t do it.

When my mom has told me no carbs, I will act as if she is taking it away from me as a punishment and add them back in. But she is really just trying to help control this repetitive behavior and self harm.

Well I would urge you to adopt a healthy diet and exercise in order to lose weight because obesity leads to a higher chance of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, osteoarthritis, and even certain cancers. I would question your moms suggestion to cut out all carbs because extreme dieting can actually lead to more craving and can turn out doing more damage in the long term. Focus on fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean meat. And try to exercise for at least 30 mins - 1 hour per day.
