Dems, what is the appropriate response when an armed and dangerous criminal resists arrest and tries to flee from the police?

Should the police just let the criminal go and thereby endangering innocent people by allowing a dangerous individual to run free or should they do what is necessary to protect the lives of the innocent citizens they are sworn to protect

Update:

Anonymous- they are a threat to others because they are armed and have a history of violence. If they are free they will be able to commit more crimes and harm others

Update 2:

? - many criminals don’t stay in the same place and are not likely to return to a known address after fleeing the police. They would remain at-large and actively try and avoid capture. This would mean they are desperate and more likely to commit crimes and harm innocent people while doing so

You are suppose to let them go so they can kill some innocent person later on.

I doubt that anyone is going to disagree with lethal force being used to stop armed and dangerous criminals, no matter what their color. But, I haven't heard of BLM protesting the police killing armed and dangerous criminals resisting arrest or trying to flee from the police ... All the BLM protests are over the killing of unarmed Blacks by police over some minor misbehavior that was questionable and/or nonviolent.

Theres a range of non lethal force options available in such a scenario, depending on the exact situation. In some situations, especially cases like high speed pursuit, its an accepted police practice to back off and give the suspect some room, if not give up entirely, when continuing the chase could potentially put civilian lives at risk

    As you indicate , it's a conundrum

If a wanted ,  violent black offender runs from the police ,and is shot -- whether he is armed or not -- the policeman will be vilified by the black community .

If the policeman  does not shoot him , and he goes on to kill someone -- then the victim's family will blame the policeman for not doing their job ,the first time

It's the heads you win , tails I lose situation, that  a policeman somewhere , faces every day .

This is why I distrust all murikkkans. Their history of violence and not respecting agreements. A nation of criminals being lead by rich criminals.

    UPDATE,,,

Golly gee wilikers Beav you are right,,,, I forgot the first thing anyone does when they have an arrest warrant issued for them is to quit their job, leave their friends and families, immediately move out of their residence and leave town,,, forgot about that.

You have a warrant,, you have the name,, you know where the person lives, where they work,, where they hang out,,, why wasn't the arrest made long before then.

And can it not be argued that police chases actually endanger more innocent people  in the process. In today's world of helicopters, radios, road blocks, and the fact that every cell phone has a GPS that law enforcement can tap into,,,, is the old west "round up a posse and chase them down" attitude really necessary.
