I have a 2002 Grand Prix with front end noise - can anyone help?
Just got new brake pads, new rotors, new wheel bearings/assemblings - what else could it be? It's definitely coming from the tires, not the engine - revving engine doesn't make the growling noise, turning the car doesn't change the noise - only the speed of the car. It started when I got the tires rotated/balanced at Meineke, but they won't help, just said it was the wheel bearings. Now those are brand new, and there's no difference in the noise.
Bearings are brand new - a good friend that used to be a mechanic put them in for me, gave me the reciepts and warranties for them. Tires have been put back to their original positions... and I've had it at 3 different garages, all said the wheel bearings and wanted $1k + for the job - my friend did it for parts + $100. Could it be my axle at all?

Yes, it could be the axle, but it most likely the baring in the transmission where the Axle meets the transmission.

I had the exact same thing happen!!! The growling is kinda random right? On our Prix's there are some wires that run down to the sensors on the brakes. these wires are bent at really sharp angles and eventually break inside the casing. (you can't tell their broken by looking at them.) Broken wires= bad communication with the traction control system. Replace those wires!!

have you service your car since that problem if not you must do so yes it can be the axle but then again it can be your rock and pinion needs to be changed i think its more likely that though so you need to get your car serviced if you want to solve the problem

your power steering pump could be going bad they make that kind of noise when they are low on power steering fluid or about to stop working!

the tires that are now on the front were probably cupped from being on the rear before.... jeeez sounds like you were ripped off on the bearings deal....

Take it to a different garage & have it check out.

have your cv joint's checked. the boot's around the cv joint's could need greased if they don't need to be replaced.
