why are there so many mobile homes down south?

yes i know they are cheap and thats what makes them popular, but i have found towns where i would say 75% of housing is mobile homes and a town a few miles away where there is mostly "real" stick built houses , and expensive ones at that.

Most of these towns that have mostly mobile homes are quite nice towns- the homes are on huge lots, and are well taken care of - so im NOT talkin about the over populated mobile home parks located in the ghetto part of town where thats all the people could afford was a mobile home.

Maybe they can not dig foundations because of maybe ground water levels, or maybe theres to much ledge in the ground?? maybe the towns do not allow foundations to be dug?

Someone enlighten me !!??

Mobile homes are usually less expensive to put in compared to stick built homes...and typically people will get these to have a home fast. It typically does not take much time to put one in.

But beware, the typical life span for one is about 30 years, less than that if not taken care of. Most people do not take as good of care of a mobile home as compared to a stick-built home. Why I am not sure. Some mobile homes are really nice, especially if you get a double-wide. I am buying one set on a permanent foundation and its out in the country (thank goodness!).

I cannot imagine a town not allowing foundations to be dug, but mobile homes can be set on permanent foundations.

To put it in layman's terms, people often buy these homes because they get much more for the money than the traditional stick-built home...and half the build time. Modulars are becoming popular too, and most times they are just as good as a stick-built home. They have better insulation than a mobile, too. Hope this helped.

U did not volunteer where down south; but

    factually, mobile homes are less

    expensive. and thus, the areas

    around are often less expensive

[high costs beget other high costs,

    and visa versa.]

not sure if this is what you wanted to know.
