External hard drives not showing up under my computer?

My psp memory stick and ipod have recently stopped showing up under my computer. They are both listed under device manager and I can even see them under disk management.

I've tried assinging them a letter but I keep getting an error that says I need to restart to enable it which doesn't work. I know the wire is fine, I use the same wire for my camera which works fine.

I've tried connecting them to another computer. Now this computer shows them in "my computer" but when clicked says they need to be formatted and asks me to do so. This computer also shows it under device manager/disk management but has a letter assigned. I've formatted my psp memory stick yet it's still the exact same thing.

Any ideas?

Looks like the previous posters are way off. In Disk Management, what format do these drives show up as (NTFS, FAT, nothing)? Drives do this when they are not partitioned (show up in DM, but not in My computer), so in DM, try choosing Mark Partition as Active (probably is already, but worth a shot) and more likely, just Delete Partition, and Create Partition. If this does not work, add a comment here or email me directly from my yahoo answers profile if you need it fixed quick. Good luck
