Does anyone have advice for first time flyers?

My wife and I are both flying for our first time in july and are both very nervous. The worst part is we are flying to vegas so its alittle over 4 hours. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it that bad? Should I take dramamine? Xanax?

It IS boring. Cramped. Loud. But on the bright side, they usually have snacks or coffee. That is about it though.

I will say taking off feels a tad bit like a speedy car. And if they take forever to take off, that is normal. Imagine it being like an intersection, you can't go until the other land is clear, and if youre alone, you can usually go as fast as you want.

Some flights have in house movies. Some have free wine. Some will let little children have a special play area to them selves.

If you fly economy, be prepared for wild children.

Also in economy, if you want to get to bathroom easier, you will get cold drinks, and no free blanket (it gets COLD). But if you want cold drinks, free blanket, close to T.V., be prepared to wait in line for el baño( the bathroom) for a while. As you will get there last.

It is fun. You needn't be afraid. Just bring snacks and a good book. And a 4 hour flight will fly.

Don't do what I did my first flight. Carry-on means your purse, book, laptop, etc. That does NOT mean a suitcase you didn't want in the cargo! Keep carry-on as light as possible.

It is not bad, you don't need to take any pills. Just chew some bubble gum and hold your wife's hand. I was a little scared my first time too, but if the pilot is good then he'll get you up and back down without any problems. Most of the time you will not feel a thing.

Sit down, buckle up that seat belt like they ask you to and keep it on all the time except if you have to go to the bathroom - simply as a safety measure. Sit back, relax, enjoy. Bring your music, possibly a mag or a book, though some mags and papers are usually provided on board, plus snacks on coffee or whatever. (The take-off is always a nice kick...)

Yes,just relax since it's only a 4 hour flight and not a 12 hour.I'm sure you can take your mind off with a movie or reading material.

avoid caffeine, nicotine, basically any stimulants because it won't help w/your nerves. dramamine is only for people who get air sickness. don't take xanax or any other prescription because those things make you extra drowsy. just bring reading material, mp3 player, etc and enjoy the ride!
