Why does Trading Spouses only ever trade the wives?

I know they had one episode in their first season where they traded the dads, but why does everyone think that they haven't traded any others, especially when spouse is a gender neutral word?

Update:

They have used career women who are used to not being at home as much, not just SAHMs.

Update 2:

Stephanie and Kaiser~

Isn't this sort of sexist against men though? Assuming they don't play a role in running the household or can't care for kids?

Well, essentially they are. It just so happens to be the women are the ones that actually leave their own environment to go be in another entirely different environment with another man.

Nobody would watch it if it were the men who were being traded. For some reason, most viewers are more interested in shows about women than men. I'll bet that most people don't know the TV show "The View" had a male counterpart called "The Other Half". That show only lasted two seasons (2001-2003) while "The View" is still going strong today.

Probably because the wives are at home more and are the ones applying to be traded.

I'm sure if more SAHD's applied for the show they would have them.

They trade the spouse who volunteers for the show and is at home the majority of the day. Otherwise they would have cameras just following people around at work all day.

Lol I've always wondered this myself!!!

I think it's because they realized the women are really in charge of the household and the men just have to listen. Makes for a better show.

I saw an episode where the fathers switched, it was a really country one with a ghetto NY father, good episode.

because they'd be sending men to live with other peoples kids, which you couldn't do. They'd especially be too many problems if the man was sent to the wives house, and they didn't get on.

Because in real life it's most often the wife that gets traded in for a newer, lower mileage model.
