Can a 14 year-old girl go to Japan alone?

I'm a 14 year-old girl who lives in the US. I'm planning to go to Japan alone next summer. I have an American passport and a Japanese passport...am I allowed to go alone? If so, are there any special steps to go through?

Update:

I'm a 14 year-old girl living in the US. I'm planning to go to Japan alone next summer. If my parents gave me permission, is it possible to go alone? If so, are there any special steps to get there?

Update 2:

Also, all my friends and relatives live there. I always stay at my granparents' house when I go there.

Update 3:

And, I've lived in Japan before for about 5 years. I'm familiar with the country, language, and everything there is to it :)

Depending on the rules of the airline you fly, you may be considered an "unaccompanied minor" and pay extra to have the airline staff watch over you until someone picks you up. You need to pre-arrange with the airline who will be dropping you off and picking you up, and they need to be at the airport when your plane arrives. If the person meeting you isn't there when the airline staff is ready to give you up, they will call the police to take you until the person can be contacted.

If your parents let you, and the airline. Then go ahead. It would be hard if you didn't know the language. I've always wanted to go to Japan! Especially since relatives live there, it should be fine. Just study the culture a bit, since it's a foriegn country, y'know. But if you really want to, I don't see the problem. Friends live there, relatives live there, passports, I think it would be ok.

Some local governments or hotels don't allow kids under 18 years old stay alone. But if you stay in your granpa's house, I think no problem. Ask your relatives to pick you up at airport.

Since you have both US and Japanese passports, both customs must accept your entry but if I were you I’ll contact to the airline and the Japan embassy if there is any guidance for a miner to travel alone.

Sure let us know if you make it back alive.......jk

No I don't think you should be travelling alone by yourself, especially that distance. You could get injured, raped etc.....Yea so I suggest you go with someone older and responsible.

    Hope this helps!

    Good Luck!

Yes, you can. Preferably with a guardian, but going alone is ok as long as your older than 12 and your parents allow u too. Sometimes, you might need a consent letter.

No responsible airline will let you fly by yourself. Finish college and when you are older, you can live out your fantasy

Source(s): I repeat once again that airline policies states that you must be over 16yrs of age to fly by yourself. You can try to fake an ID but i won't recommend it. All those who say you can fly are just giving you false hope and looking for points
