Brutus 1700 fried.... someone help?

So I've been running my brutus a little less than a year and it's been working fine no problems. It had never even been in brotect. I'm running the 1700 watt so it doesn't have fuses, and I'm running it 4 ohms. Sounds like I shouldn't have a problem, but one day it's in protect and wont come out, couple days later I get the green light on the remote knob but the amp in the back is literally smoking. I've taken it out and I'm waiting for my warrenty to kick in, but what could have went wrong so I don't just do this all over again.

A bad power or ground connection, or using power wiring that is too small will cause a amplifier to overheat and fail. Even if you are not using the amplifiers full output. Also, a shorted speaker wire or a bad speaker can cause the same thing.

I have seen this problem before. If the amp casing just happened to be grounded somewhere else then you will get this problem. Also, its an electronic so sometimes they fail without any reason at all. Another thing as well, no matter how little power you think that you are running, you should always simply place a fuse on the hot wire. This is to protect you and your vehicle from electrical damage. Any surges in power would actually help protect your amp and all of the electrical components between them. You ma have experienced this and instead of the fuse popping, your amp did.

the amp its self was smoking!? haha no idea there, if i had to guess it would sound more like it was the actual Wiring that was smoking but if it was the amp smoking and this is after 1 year of it being perfectly set up i would say it likely was an internal issuem with the amp that really is hard or impossible to prevent

Bad wiring,no electrical upgrades,or the biggest prob of all....clipping it by getting retarded with the gains in your stereo and keeping them too high.

That will definately will burn it up.

Sorry for your woes there Slick.
