What makes a great "homemade" seed guard for my budgie's cage?
His cage will be set on my book shelf. Should I pen a towel or blanket around the back and sides of the cage so nothing gets behind my book shelf? Any other suggests? Thank you for your time! :)

the clear plastic around cage is a good idea.also a seed guard made of tulle is good.I have found that a feed dish with a lid and sides works to cut down the seed too.they throw the hulls of the seeds out and the top and sides of a feeder helps.

plastic wrap like what you would use to cover food. :) just wrap it around a few times about 6-8 inches wide around the bottom part of the cage above the tray area. hope this helps!

make sure the ground is well cultivated first, otherwise if its not deep enough you will end up with stunted birds-like midget budgies!id try throwing out the leftovers from the bottom of a cage, its usually a better recipe for mixed colours of birds..good-luck with this,as i only get mice!at-least you can teach the midget budgies to pole dance! :)

When I needed something similar, my dad put a thin, see through, plastic piece cut to shape the cage, around it so that they could still see. You can get it at a hardware store I think..... hope I helped :)
