見たばかりに japanese grammar?

試験中ちょっと横を見たばかりに、カンニングと間違われた。

kindly explain the meaning of 見たばかりに here. Thanks in advance

    "Simply because I took a (short) look to the side during a test I was mistaken for cheating." 試験中ちょっと横を見たばかりに、カンニングと間違われた。ばかりに=simply because, on account of. I got the feeling from ちょっと that it was only a short glance to the side.
